What You Should Know About the Queensland Government Solar Panel Rebate

For many people, a solar system is not only environmentally friendly but also a way to cut down on the electricity bill. It’s true, solar systems can help reduce the extent of pollution in the environment, while enabling homeowners to save money in the process.

In fact, a solar rebate Qld has meant that many homeowners can now afford these robust systems and the incentive is especially inclusive of low-income families.

That is to say, if a homeowner is receiving “Family Tax Benefit Part B” and has a power bill in excess of $1,000 every six months, they can avail of the solar rebate.

And that’s just part of the story…

While small businesses are ineligible for these interest-free loans, they can avail of this QLD government rebate through a grant system. With this in mind, let’s take a closer look at this government incentive and what you should know about the solar rebate:

QLD Solar Rebate: What to Know About the Three Packages Available

Queensland Solar RebateIn recent years, the Queensland government has offered grants and interest-free loans for home solar and battery storage systems. As part of the stimulus, homeowners and small business owners are able to install these systems and avoid paying any interest.

But why might this incentive be necessary in the first place?

You see, the solar industry is thriving in recent times and many suggest a stimulus was not even needed. In fact, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission even recommended the solar rebate QLD should be cancelled entirely. However, this government initiative is not about creating employment but rather to make solar energy more accessible to those who might not be able to afford it. After all, by identifying homeowners on the family tax benefit, the Qld government rebate is specifically trying to assist those who might be struggling with their current power bills.

In other words, the Qld solar rebate is helping low-income families afford economical solar systems, while helping to replace the use of fossil fuels with renewable energy.

Here’s a quick rundown of three main packages available under the Qld solar rebate:
Solar System Loan – An eligible homeowner can avail of one interest-free loan of up to $4,500 which must be repaid within 7 years.

Battery Storage System Loan/Grant – Eligible small business owners and homeowners can avail of a grant of up to $3,000 to purchase a battery storage system. However, homeowners can also apply for an interest-free loan of up to $6,000 for a battery system and each of these options must be repaid within a ten-year period.

Combined Solar & Battery System Loan/Grant – Eligible small business owners and homeowners can avail of a grant of up to $3,000 to purchase a solar and battery storage system. However, homeowners can also apply for an interest-free loan of up to $10,000 for this option and each loan must be repaid within a ten-year period.

And what might any of this mean for you?

About Making the Switch to Solar Energy at Home/Work

Well, it means that most people can now invest in solar energy for their home or business. More specifically, this investment can help protect the environment and reduce the rising cost of monthly power bills. After all, electricity is expensive and the loan repayments are often less with this scheme than any savings you might make on a traditional power bill. At the same time, as with everything in life, nothing lasts forever and this incentive is to be phased out which means it might be time to make the switch.
